I just upgraded my computer from XP Pro SP2 to SP3, and also from IE6 to IE7. After the install, I have lost about 8GB of free space. Can I recover any of the lost free space by deleting temp files, backups, etc. from the install?

Try this disk usage analysis tool.
I think it will be helpful in this problem...
