I have had numerous issues with my system since I accidentally deleted a bunch of DLL and other files using a duplicate file eraser. I forgot to check the "protect" box and didn't realize this particular software showed ALL the files and not just the duplicates that were safe to remove.
I used my Win XP pro disk to repair in order to get up and running again.
My computer now starts up extremely slow and also takes forever to shut down. But one thing at a time.
Oddly - when it starts up - it will show the wallpaper on my desktop that was previously there, but without any icons. Then some software apparently loads and then the screen goes blank only to reappear as a solid color background. This is not extremely important to me from an appearance standpoint, but perhaps it might indicate some other underlying issue?
I also show that I have 2 Motorola wireless adapters. I had to reinstall the software after the crash. I don't know how to delete the unused one. I'm guessing the one without all of the info is the extra one. I happened to find this by running a scan by DAL.
I hate the thought that I might just have to save stuff, reformat and start over.
My system works, but it has numerous glitches. I downloaded an update to my Nvidia card. That took out my sound drivers. Once I discovered that and unistalled the update - my sounds returned.
Help! I need to get this back on track and I don't know where to start.
thanks,
Susie
