I've been working on a client PC that was initially worked on by a previous technician (to no avail). I noticed a few things on the machine which I immediately removed, AVG, which after speaking to the client didn't pay for etc..I installed free AVG, removed Lime-wire, installed malware, and ran a few scans with spybot s&d
I found approximately 40 viruses, and at this point, the system is more stable then it probably has been in a long time, but I'm getting two main BSOD, BAD_POOL_CALLER and IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL. At this point I'm at a loss and have no where else to turn. I'm seriously considering wiping the drive, but I can't even back the data up due to DCOM issues and Shadow copy errors. All of which terminate the windows backup utilitly.
I'm going to run a Hijack log and post in a few, but right now I'm running one more AVG scan, and I don't want anything interfere. But if anyone has any suggestions or familiarity with these problems please assist.
