I am using Window XP Home Edition and Internet Explorer 6, I think. I don't know how to find out which version it is, but I think I tried 7, didn't like it and removed it.
I use Norton antivirus and Zone Alarm. I also have a Google toolbar.
A few days ago my computer started running slower and slower until Explorer or other programs would freeze. I'd run Task Manager to stop the "unresponding" program and Task Manager would replicate itself until I had about 40 of them running. When I finally closed them down I'd restart the computer and it would be fine for a while - then the problem would start again.
I now see a new icon on my desktop. Its called 6.2152; .NET CLR 3.5.30729) I can't open it. When I move it to the garbage bin it comes back.
What is it? What's going on with my computer? I've scanned for viruses and used AdAware. I've run PC Doctor and everything shows its fine.
Any suggestions? thanks for your help.
30 minutes later - I now have 2 of these icons on the desktop.
